Ready for Valentine's Day! PDF Print E-mail

W
e are all ready for some cool music-making fun on Feb 14 (Valentine's Day) coming up this weekend at Alta Coffee in Newport Beach. We played there last November and the place was amazing! This is not one of your corporate @%#*bucks-type coffee houses. It is very intimate, a great place to get up close and personal with your honey as well as the band. This place is tucked away on a little side street in a very cool artist-type community. Come and sing and clap and laugh and drink some great coffee and eat some wonderful desserts with us this saturday night (and don't forget to bring your significant other!) 8pm to 10:30pm. Don't be late (and don't forget the roses for the sweetie!)

One Foot In to Play Java Joe's PDF Print E-mail

javajoe

O
n October 30, 2008, One Foot In breaks new ground with our upcoming gig at Java Joe's in Yorba Linda, CA. This popular coffee house also serves a variety of wines, plus breakfast and lunch, and hosts many local and some not-so local musicians and groups as well as an open mic night every Tuesday night hosted by an old friend of ours, Scott Smith. Scott is an able musician in his own right and used to be one of the members of a popular local group "Wooden Ships". The group was known for it's harmonies and melodic arrangements along the order of Crosby Stills and Nash.

Even though it is the night before Halloween, we expect no trickery but instead we'll supply some musical treats to satisfy both discerning coffee aficianados and wine lovers alike. The thirtieth is a Thursday night and we would love to see all our fans come out to support us in our opening night at this venue. Copies of out latest CD will be available. We love to make new friends and add them to our loyal core! See you at Java Joe's!

Java Joe's hosts musical performance nightly and there is a good variety to choose from, so, if you can't make it to our Java Joe'sshow, be sure to visit this fine establishment and partake in some good music, great coffee, a sip of wine, and don't forget to bring some friends! You'll be glad you did!

Java Joe's is located at 4973 Yorba Ranch Rd., Yorba Linda, CA 92887 (Java Joe's is in a small strip mall on the corner of Yorba Linda Blvd. and Yorba Ranch Road in Yorba Linda. From the 91 freeway, exit Weir Canyon road and go north a couple of miles—It becomes Yorba Linda Blvd.), or call (714) 970-7988 for more information.

Notes from the Woodshed PDF Print E-mail

T.J. Defriez

hen a musical group goes into relative hiding while working on new material, the process is called "woodshedding" because in the old days, the largest outbuilding behind the house (besides the barn, which was usually full of animals) was the woodshed. Many musical groups used to practice and work up and write new material in this small dark place, away from other people, so the name stuck. Even though not many groups actually practice in a wood shed anymore, the name for the process is still in full force.

Recently, we added a new member in the band—T.J. Defriez, drummer, percussionists, harmonica, saxophone. He slid right in and has become the glue that holds most of our arrangements together. Just like a person, a song lives much better with a heartbeat and T.J. fills the bill perfectly. As an
